Permission to be a voyeur.

I just returned from a weekend trip to Oakland, and stopped off at the Golden Gate Bridge on Saturday morning to run my new lens (a Fuji 100-400) through its paces.
I quickly grew tired of uninspired bridge photos, and wanted to challenge myself.
I’ve always wanted to do more street photography and candid vernacular portraiture, but have always felt very uncomfortable inserting my camera into other peoples private lives and experiences.
So I challenged myself to take pictures of people taking pictures from the scenic overlook on the San Francisco side of the Golden Gate Bridge.
I must confess, I was incredibly self-conscious. But when I let myself be a part of the surroundings – a silent and invisible voyeur – I really started to have fun.
Perhaps I’ll make this a more long term project.
